And do you also fancy playing cricket?
Come and join in your local friendly cricket club and play a mix of midweek T20 or 40 over Sunday cricket. All levels welcome.
Appleton Cricket Club has been playing cricket for over 100 years and has been based at the Appleton Sportsfield since the facility was commissioned in 1966.
Playing friendly Sunday and midweek T20 cricket through the summer season, we welcome players of all abilities, in particular, youngsters, to play cricket. We like to play a relaxed, fun and progressive style of cricket where the aim is to enjoy each playing experience! We like to win – but with both teams happy whatever the result.
We had some super summer weather in 2019 and enjoyed the limited 2020 season.
To find out more contact our club captain Hjalmar Blomerus (details below) for 2020, or email
Ok, so you’re not too keen on the idea of actually playing?
Come on down to the ACC cricket ground on match day, enjoy the facilities, have a beer (or two) and watch some fantastic contests between bat and ball. And if you’re feeling particularly generous we’re on the lookout for our 2021 sponsors so we’ would be more than happy to chat about that too.
Last season finished well....... but the results could have been better!
The full fixture list planned for last summer was abandoned but several matches were played.

Further News - Appleton willow made into “The Appleton Bat”
When the Gow farming family approached Appleton Cricket Club vice president and long-term club supporter, Graham Rose, in 2015 with the idea that one their felled willow trees might be made into a bat for the club, he was very enthusiastic.
Now the bat has been formed from the willow and has been presented to the Appleton Cricket Club captain, Elliott Bennett, by the Gow family via the club President, Andrew Hammond (see photo below) at the annual President’s match in September.
Club chairman Roger Gilkes commented: “We are thrilled to have this bat and thought long and hard what to do with it. On the one hand should we have a presentation cabinet and put the bat in the pavilion, the bat never having been used? Or, on the other, should it be presented to the best batter of the year?
Cathie Little (nee Gow) said: “It struck me that when we were having some willow tree felled about two years ago, why not make a bat? I am delighted that the Appleton Cricket Club will treasure a very locally made bat”!
